Kuala Lumpur, May 17th 2019 – The Global Compact Network Malaysia will be organising its first flagship SDG Conference this 20th of June 2019,  in Limkokwing University, Cyberjaya. With the theme of People, Planet & Profit for the Next Generation, the event will convene youth changemakers & leaders from all sectors from across Malaysia to discuss & share the challenges & opportunities presented in the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.

With a bias towards identifying practical solutions to concrete problems in the SDGs, the SDG Conference 2019 will be holding four key plenary sessions on areas that affect youngsters the most; Youth, Employment, Gender Equality & Climate Change. With the valuable input & guidance from thought leaders & key players in each area, participants will have the opportunity to delve deep into the underlying problems that hinder Malaysia’s advancement in these aspects and the complexities surrounding it.

Limkokwing University — with its globalised environment & well-known reputation in promoting sustainability in the country — has offered its campus as the venue of choice as it has outstanding track record in highlighting the value of sustainability over the past four decades; creating an institution that is transforming nations in line with the SDGs in Africa, Asia and Europe.

To truly advance sustainability in the country, the youth of the country must be engaged fully. Their talents & aspirations serve as our beacon of hope as Malaysia steps into the third & last decade to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.  The SDG Conference 2019 seeks to gather the best and the brightest young minds to contribute in finding solutions to the problems that the country face, and as we move towards this new era and the obstacles surrounding the SDGs become more complex, the power that youths have will be needed more than ever.
