11 December 2017, Kuala Lumpur: Education leader, iCerdik, an interactive online learning program that gives parents unprecedented first-hand knowledge of their children’s educational needs has committed to advancing its action on United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) 4, which aims to “ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning.”
iCerdik has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate with Global Compact Network Malaysia (GCMY). Together, iCerdik and GCMY will make a lasting contribution to Malaysia’s quest in helping Malaysia children improved education by applying best practices to engage in topics of education and facilitate access to new markets.
“Investing in education is essential to developing a skilled workforce for the future and improving economic growth. During the last decade, primary education in Malaysia has been faced with many challenges and these are reflected when students reach secondary school level. Students who face difficulties in these later years, have most likely not been able to enjoy quality education at primary levels.”
“Business leaders around the world have recognized education as one of the most urgent sustainability challenges. However, business investments in education have often been small, short-term, uncoordinated and unequally distributed. Therefore, increasing smart investments in education over the longer term is what we hope to achieve,” said Kamal Samad Ismail, Founder of iCerdik.
Puvan J Selvanathan, President of GCMY, said, “With iCerdik we can promote holistic learning opportunities. We all have a national duty to our children. We must provide them with strong tools that for learning and allow teachers and parents to make informed decisions. iCerdik strategically delivers quality education aligned with the SDGs in Malaysia.”
iCerdik’s target programmes will equip children with relevant skills to shape them into well-rounded, versatile and responsible individuals in preparation to meet the UN 2030 SDGs.
